Abstract

The low power wireless communication technology has enabled the development of next generation low-cost wireless sensor network. How to efficiently utilize limited energy in wireless sensor network, directly affects the lifetime and cost of the network. Numbers of protocols have been proposed for energy-efficient communication. It can't be simply evaluated which performs better or worse, because in various scenarios, a protocol would perform differently. This paper will propose a new static clustering protocol named Low-Energy Static Clustering Scheme (LESCS). LESCS can solve the hotspot problem inherently existing in static clustering, provide stable network circumstance, distribute energy consumption equally among all sensors and lengthen the lifetime of the whole network.
