Abstract

History of the traditional stone constructions, which are called Masia, in Catalonia, Spain dates back to the middle ages. Most of the remains were built from the 17th century downward and continue to exist as dwellings in farm area and other buildings afterre novation. This paper identifies the materials and construction methods of ancient Masia which are located at Fatxes area in Vandellos city, mainly focused on the masonry wall on the basis of the results from the interview with various professions, visual inspection and chemical analyses of the materials used in the objective Masia.
