Abstract

A technique for obtaining the attenuation constant alpha and its frequency characteristics from the echo signal of a point reflector is proposed. Experiments were conducted using tissuelike specimens. The experimentally obtained value of alpha was close to value obtained in an earlier study by a relative attenuation technique. Results are presented for the frequency characteristics of attenuation of tissuelike specimens and rat liver tissue measured by this technique.
