Abstract

Loading tests were carried out on quarter scale breakwater caissons with buttress and box footings. Bond splitting failure occurred along the reinforcing bars in the buttress and plane shear failure in the box footing. Results from finite element design methods were shown to be satisfactory for structural safety.
