Abstract
The microstructure and magnetic properties of FePt and Fe/FePt polycrystalline thin films with high coercivity were investigated. The L1 0 FePt particulate film deposited on a heated amorphous SiO 2 substrate was found to show a large coercivity (Hc) of 23 kOe. The morphological change from particulate to continuous showed a minute decrease in the Hc. The result of the exchange coupling of the Fe and FePt layers show an increase of remanence and energy product.
