Abstract
Microstructures of La2-xSrxCuO4 and La1.6-xSrxNd0.4CuO4 around x=0.12 at 12K have been examined by transmission electron microscopy. In both oxides, a spotty phase with the Pccn/LTT tilt appears inside a LTO domain, in addition to a line phase along a domain boundary. A difference between these oxides is that a volume fraction of the spotty phase to the LTO one in La-Sr-Nd-Cu-O is much larger than that in La-Sr-Cu-O. Because La1.6-xSrxNd0.4CuO4 does not basically exhibit superconductivity, the Tc-suppression found in La-cuprates should be related to the appearance of the spotty phase.
