Abstract

An illustration of a novel design of traction power converter is presented as well as its specified control strategy of traction equipment of the gauge changing train (GCT). Some tests results were introduced to give verification upon the basic function of the propulsion system. The verification of the control strategy may be known through the operating results in the gauge changing section. The test results show that the general control performance for permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSMs) and the special features of GCT were verified.
