Nonlinear Sagnac effect for ring laser gyroscopes

Abstract

We propose a novel ring laser gyroscope that gives the Sagnac beat frequency as the oscillation frequency of the amplitude of the only unidirectional propagating mode instead of the coupled counter-propagating laser lights in the conventional ring laser gyroscope.
