Abstract
The present paper discusses a method for numerical analysis of a free piston Vuilleumier cycle (FPVM) machine and analytical results. The numerical model is based on the nonlinear analysis of dynamic behaviour of hot and cold displacers and a casing. In addtion, our prototype machine applied to a heat pump for air conditioning is introduced, which has a gas spring established in the cold displacer to connect both displacers. The result of research and development gave us basic findings for practical use on the FPVM heat pump.
