Abstract
The mechanism of low-temperature ordering in FePt continuous and granular films is discussed. TEM observation of the in situ ordered FePt film indicated that the ordering progresses discontinuously with the grain boundary movement at low temperature. While Cu addition is effective in reducing the ordering temperature of continuous FePt films, it is not effective for nanogranular films.
