Abstract

The sediment laden flow is classified into the states of equilibrium and nonequilibrium. In the former case, sediment particles exchange the energy with water and as a whole the energy level of flow is constant. On the other hand, sediment particles and water dissipate the constant energy per unit length in the latter. Authors study the characteristics of bed-load phenomenon from the view point of energy balance by using the numerical simulation and experimental results.
