Abstract

Presently, the construction of new transmission lines is very difficult by opposition from the inhabitant, and the investment for new equipment tends to be suppressed by the progress of the power market deregulation. The FACTS device can improve the operation capacity of the power system to nearly thermal capacity limits. Therefore, attention is now being paid on the use of FACTS devices. Because the FACTS devices are very expensive, sophisticated operations are anticipated. In this paper we propose a plan of daily operations of a TCSC (Thyristor Controlled Series Capacitor) with consideration of improving stability ATC (Available Transmission Capability) and transmission line losses. And we simulate the proposed plan using a 3 machine 9 bus system by carrying out a three-phase to ground fault of one line in double circuit transmission lines.
