Abstract

In this study, we examined the problem of creating an operational schedule that considers the charging of multiple electric buses. We considered a model in which fixed-route buses with gasoline-powered engines are replaced with electric vehicles (EVs). This necessitates the charging of their batteries during operation. Therefore, we developed a method to minimize the total battery usage by considering the battery capacity and charging time. Based on experiments using actual data, guidelines were be developed to introduce EVs in existing bus networks. Our numerical experiments demonstrated the effectiveness of the proposed method.
