Abstract
Temperature dependences of gyration tensor component g11 and birefringence An of Gd2(MoO4)3 were measured at various wavelength by using high accuracy universal Polarimeter (HAUP). Spontaneous values of gn and An in the ferroelectric phase increased with decreasing temperature, but quadratic relations with respect to spontaneous polarization did not hold. The spontaneous Ans showed an anomalous peak at a wavelength of 334.7nm. Such a phenomenon has not been reported to date in any ferroelectrics.
