    Abstract

Problems associated with economic load dispatching and voltage-reactive power control can be formulated into nonlinear programming problems. A new solution method based on an iterative linear programming technique is proposed. The method gives exact solutions in a very short computing time. This method is applied to an optimal reactive power dispatching problem to demonstrate its effectiveness. The problem is formulated and the proposed algorithm is established. Calculation accuracy and computing speed are discussed. The authors trust that the proposed method is suited for both power system planning and operation.
