Abstract

The self-gravitating ring (SGR) model that is a one-dimensional (1D) model of a self-gravitating system was studied. It was found that an interesting phase with the negative specific heat appears at the intermediate energy scale. Classifying the particles in each phase into three species (core, halo, and gas specie), dynamical properties of this phase were determined. Furthermore, using SGR model, characteristic properties of relaxation, velocity distributions, and density profiles in each phase were observed.
