N2 - A tetradecyl-substituted diporphyrinatocopperiron complex was synthesized and solubilized in an aqueous medium with a surfactant. Both the oxygen- and carbon monoxide-binding rate constants decreased due to the steric hindrance of the porphyrinatocopper cap, which brought about a reduced gas-binding affinity in comparison with other synthetic porphyrinatoiron complexes.
