Abstract

Presently detecting of partial discharge (PD) in gas insulated switchgear(GIS) is one of important monitoring terms. This paper describes the study of behavior of surge due to PD in GIS. PD can be detected by catching the electromagnetic wave radiating from the insulated spacer between enclosures, because coaxial between central conductor and enclosure is not completely in insulating spacer part. Antenna can be caught the electromagnetic wave. By catching the several waves from different propagating paths in the same time, PD location in GIS can be estimated. This system we have developed is applied to actual 500kV GIS sw/s.
