Abstract

We model a remanufacturing system with consideration of the number of remanufacturing opportunities, variable remanufacture rates and discard rates. Disposal of most used products should be planned to allow for remanufacturing into new products. Thus, all the products currently in use should be considered as the virtual inventory of the system. We develop two types of remanufacturing system models. One is a model with an infinite number of remanufacturing opportunities, and the other is a model with a finite number of remanufacturing opportunities. Finally, Numerical results are given to show the properties of the system by controlling some parameters.
