Abstract

A Petri-net-based factory automation (FA) controller for flexible and maintainable control specifications has been developed. This controller is named station controller, SCR, and has been installed on the M68000 16 bit-microcomputer. Following a concise explanation of a Petri-net-like language and an efficient interpretation schema used in SCR, several applications of SCR are surveyed. Control of a parts assembly station, a multi-industrial robot controller and control of automatic warehouse deposit/withdrawal system, applying a general-purpose FA-controller-installed SCR, are illustrated, and SCR is evaluated.
