(Porphinato)iron Complex Incorporated in Lipid Bilayer of Liposome

Abstract

[meso-Tetrakis[α, α, α, α-o-(pivalamido)phenyl]porphinato]iron(II) ([Fe(pfp)]) complex with l-dodecyl-2-methylimidazole (DMI) was incorated into the hydrophobic region of liposome of dimyristoylphosphatidylcholine (DMPC). The ineoporporation was confirmed by 1H-NMR (Fig. 2), 31P-NMR, differential scanning calorimetry (Fig. 4), gel permeation chromatography (Fig. 1), ESR (Fig. 3), and fluorescence (Fig. 5) measurements. The liposome-incorporated [Fe(pfp)] complex formed in the pH 7 aqueous medium at 37°C an oxygen adduct with a life-time of 3 h reversibly.
