Abstract

Processing of conductive polymers generally employ organic solvents such as acetonitrile. This work report electrochemical synthesis of a conductive polymer thin film in surpercritical carbon dioxide (scCO2). Iron 5-(3-thienyl)-10,15,20-triethylporphyrin film synthesized in scCO2 was analyzed by scanning electron microscopy and laser microscopy. It was revealed that the thickness and smoothness of the porphyrin film synthesized in scCO2 was 1/10 of those of the film synthesized in dichloromethane.
