Abstract

It is said that the market scale of the environment-related business of the United States was 78 billion dollars in 1990, and it reached up to 113 billion dollars in 2000 according to OECD research. However, these definition how to calculate of environment-related business are different among every research institute and market of environment-related business is forecast 40 trillion yen scale in Japan in2020. Based on Japanese researches, the market scale of the United States is twice or more compared with GNP, and will exceed 80 trillion yen according to statistics and the forecast of the Japanese style if it thinks simply. In the waste management business of the United States, the standard of the permission system is not tough like Japanese one and the division of waste is not complicated. In order to make waste management bigger, it is necessary for Japanese business to think over division of waste and the permission system of waste. It is thought that this is a bottleneck for the immaturity of waste industry in Japan and this problem should be solved as soon as possible. Of course, there are many differences not only the law system but also a difference of the stance of the environmental administration between Japan and the United States. In Japan, there are thoughts that it is necessary to be processed with the public service still. On the other hand, The United States has solved by making the waste problem a business.
