Abstract

IP broadcast services have grown in popularity recently with the advance of broadband telecommunication networks. Pricing schemes are dependent on the IP broadcast service providers, and flat-rate pricing is normally used. However, time-based pricing is expected to become more common in the near future. This paper analyses time-based pricing of IP broadcast services. User behaviour in VOD-type IP broadcasts is categorized into two viewing styles. Results from simulation are useful to find the optimal price that maximizes the revenue of the IP broadcast service providers.
