Abstract

Probabilistic approach to the stress distributions of an orthotropic wood plate is discussed. The stress distributions for the orthotropic elastic media are fully dependent of the material properties. Hence taking into account uncertainty of the elastic coefficients leads to variations of the stresses. Utilizing the Monte Carlo simulation and second order approximation techniques, probability-based evaluations of the orthotropic stresses are discussed.
