Abstract

The 19th European conference on diamond, diamond-like materials, carbon nanotubes, and nitrides (Diamond 2008), was held at Sitges, Spain, on September 7-11, 2008. Twenty invited talks were organized during the event with a focus on high growth rate of diamond, diamond growth mechanisms, hetero-epitaxy, defects and dislocations, diamond bio-sensors and drug delivery, nano-diamond and its bio-chemical uses, low temperature diamond growth, diamond electrochemistry, detectors, field emission devices, graphene, high growth rate diamond-like carbon at atmospheric pressure, graphene, carbon nanotube separation and applications, and boron nitride films. The conference invited 639 abstracts and accepted 58 for oral presentation and 350 for poster presentation in two poster sessions. The conference also organized two tutorial sessions on diamond growth presented by M. Schreck and on diamond bio-surfaces presented by J. Garrido.
