Abstract

The high-burnup 8×8 fuel is a new type of BWR fuel assembly, known as STEP-2 fuel. New concepts such as ferrule type spacer and a large diameter central water rod are introduced in order to improve the thermal margin and reactor shutdown margin for the higher uranium enrichment. The purpose of this test is to prove the critical power performance of STEP-2 fuel and to evaluate the prediction performance of the subchannel code.
