Abstract

The law on specific chemical pollutants release and transfer register, which EA and MITI have jurisdiction over, will be effective soon. The law asks each business unit to monitor the release of the specific chemicals into environment, make information on their physical properties and handling procedures public, and to improve its voluntary control of them. The release of the specific chemicals will be registered across the country, and be open to the public. The law will be enacted in June, and will be effective in April, 2000.
