Abstract

Plasmon dynamics in a single gold nanorod was visualized by ultrafast time-resolved near-field optical microscopy. On excitation of multiple plasmon modes, transient near-field images exhibit prominent temporal change that reflects a characteristic behavior of coherent superposition of the excited plasmons.
