Abstract

Perpendicular anisotropy magnetic films were formed by an electroless plating method for high density perpendicular recording media. The optimum conditions of plating bath for this purpose were studied mainly by various complexing agents for cobalt ion and the other metal ions. The chemically plated Co alloy magnetic films have a high potential to be applied in practical use as a perpendicular recording medium.
