Abstract

Rheological behavior of the metallo-supramolecular gels was analyzed. A metallosupramolecular gel, 1:Zn/La gel, used for the analysis was formed by sequential binding of monomer with 3 mol % La(III) nitrate followed by 97 mol % Zn(II) perchlorate and swollen in acetonitrile. It was observed that partial reconstitution of the network took place instantaneously, but complete regeneration of the preexisting gel took approximately 18 minutes. The results show that the storage modulus remains constant but the yield stress and strain increase linearly, after the initial formation of a loose gel.
