    Abstract

The selective nucleation control in periodical poling for quasi-phase-matched wavelength converters was presented. The dependence of nucleation status on the pulse width ranging from 0.1 s to 100 s was examined. The selective nucleation control to disperse nuclei which have small domain size and high domain density was demonstrated. It was found that in the wall movement process, a uniform periodic structure was formed with flat domain walls.
