Abstract

On a Ni (111) surface, a single-layer graphene sheet with a 1 × 1 atomic structure grew up in epitaxial way. Chemical etching the substrate made it possible to separate macroscopic self-standing sheets of graphene a few tenth mm in size, which were characterized by transmission electron microscopy (TEM).
