N2 - With rapid economic growth and accelerated urbanization, energy demands have been increasing drastically in China in recent years. Thus it becomes of great interest to explore how to efficiently coordinate the relationship between economic growth and energy conservation, namely the question of shared determinants. Using the "1992-1997-2002-2005 Input-Output Tables" this paper performs factor analysis for different industrial growth; and investigates how the changes in input structure (technology) and final demand structure (consumption, investment, export) could affect to the energy efficiency. It is concluded that, export and investment promote the China's economic development in a large extent, but at the same time they lead to energy inefficiency as a whole, just like many fast-growing industries are usually of a high-energy-consumption nature.
