Abstract

Sodium 1-(12-hydroxy)octadecanyl sulfate (1) was isolated from a marine tunicate as a matrix metalloproteinase 2 (MMP2) inhibitor.1 The structure was elucidated by a combination of spectroscopic and chemical methods. Compound 1 inhibited MMP2 with an IC50 value of 9.0 μg/mL.
