Abstract

If an interface between man and robot is achieved through highly flexible speech, robots will be more useful to man, therefore more widely used. We have developed a speech synthesizer and recognition system and are presently using it in the WABOT-2, which has the ability to play the keyboard: This paper describes an outline of our speech synthesizer and recognition system. The system consists of the speech understanding part, which recognize continuously uttered sentences according to the situation and speech synthesis part which requests, in a natural manner, man to speak and performs natural conversation.
