Abstract
A 2,6,10-Tris(dianisylaminium)-3,7,11-tris(hexyloxy)triphenylene 1 was synthesized through the oxidative trimerization, the palladium catalyzed amination, and chemical oxidation with an equimolar AgBF4. The SQUID and NMR shift method measurement indicated a quartet state of the triaminium triphenylene 1 from 2 to 330 K. A 2,6,10-tribromo-3,7,11-tris(hexyloxy) triphenylene 2 and a 2,6,10-tris(p-anisylamino)-3,7,11-tris(hexyloxy) triphenylene 3 were co-polymerized using palladium catalyst to yield pseudo two-dimensional polymer 4. Copolymerization of 1 equiv of 2 and 2 equiv of 3 gave high weight polymer (Mn = 5400). The end-cap of the polymer 4 with p-bromoanisole gave polymer 5. The NMR and MALDI-TOFMS indicated quantitative end-capping of the secondary amines. The polymer 5 will be oxidized chemically to corresponding polyradical. Their magnetic property and spin alignment at room temperature will be reported.
