    Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to analyze structural response of high SRC pier during earthquake motion, in which the influence of steel frames on the dynamic response of SRC pier is investigated using the finite element method. The results obtained are summarized as follows: (1) When the high SRC pier has no damage at all, the seismic response of the SRC pier is governed mainly by the concrete of the SRC pier. (2) Even if the SRC pier has some damages near the footing during earthquake motion, sufficient diagonal steel members keep the SRC pier safe. Therefore, diagonal steel members play a key role in the design of high SRC piers.
