    Abstract

Possible construction scenarios of future large space systems such as solar power satellites based on the combination of robotic and deployment construction schemes are introduced. As their deployable elements light weight membrane array structures actuated by extendible booms are considered, and several folding patterns of large solar cell membrane surfaces are presented. Some deployment aspects on a laboratory scale conceptual one-dimensional array model are also shown.
