Abstract

The traction motor for Electric Vehicle (EV) requires high output power, high efficiency, and downsizing. Therefore, high speed drive of the motor is desired to realize downsizing of the motor system. However, PMSMs are difficult to operate in a high speed region due to the mechanical strength. On the other hand, SRMs are suitable for a high speed driving because of the robust structure. In a high speed region, increasing of the iron loss with electric angular frequency becomes a serious problem. To overcome the problem, SRM with amorphous steel sheet is proposed in this paper.
