Abstract

The authors describe the Group-3 facsimile transmission scheme in the digital cellular system. A transparent transmission system configuration is adopted. A modified CCITT V.110 frame is adopted as the data frame format to realize facsimile transmission through the dual-mode cellular system (TIA IS-54) at a rate of 20 ms/slot. After some evaluation, it was found that the transparent transmission system is sufficiently applicable to a circuit involving burst errors at a rate of about 5 × 10-2.
