Abstract

This paper proposes a method to maximize output power density of an induction motor for railway vehicle traction by enhancing the ratio of electric loading. By means of this method, the regenerative brake power can be increased in the middle and high speed range, and the regenerative brake energy can be increased by around 18% in a case study.
