Abstract

Superconductivity has been observed in Ba2LnCu3O9-x compounds with Ln=La, Nd, Sm, Eu, Gd, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm and Yb. However, Pr, Ce, Tb and Lu compounds have not shown superconductivity. Lattice constants of these compounds which have an oxygen defect perovskite structure show definite relation to ionic radii of Ln. The effect of the crystal structure on superconductivity is discussed.
