    Abstract

Supply reliability of competitive electricity market is focused in this paper. To reduce cost of generation and electricity price is one of the main purposes of introducing competitive electricity market. However it is undesirable that supply reliability of the system is not maintained even if generation cost has been reduced. To maintain supply reliability, an index to evaluate supply reliability is necessary. Expected Unserved Power (EUP) is proposed as an index for supply reliability evaluation and Transmission line Reliability Sensitivity (TRS) is also proposed to detect transmission lines that have adverse impact for supply reliability of the system. Numerical examples using a test system demonstrate the effectiveness of proposed method.
