Abstract

Propagation in vacuum of 2. 6-6. 7 multiplied by 10** minus **3 Pa under a nonuniform electric field was studied using a potential probe and an image converter camera. A weak luminosity developed at a velocity of about 1. 0 multiplied by 10**6 m/s. The final flashover occurs about 3. 5 mu s after the luminosity bridges the two electrodes. This period is a preparatory stage for final flashover.
