Abstract

A new finite element scheme is proposed and analyzed for convection-diffusion problems in irrotational flow. This scheme is symmetric; therefore, we can solve the problems efficiently by using algorithms developed for symmetric matrices like Cholesky decomposition. Eigenvalue problems are also analyzed using this scheme.
