Abstract

Microporous layered zirconium phenylphosphonate, Zr(O3P-C 6H5)2 was prepared in presence of sodium dodecylsulfate (SDS), for the first time. Interplanar spacing (d001) and surface area of microporous zirconium phenylphosphonate are 1.47 nm and 198 m2g-1, respectively. FT-IR spectrum indicates absence or negligible amount of hydroxyls groups in zirconium phenylphosphonate sample, 31P solid MAS NMR also confirms the presence of trace amount of hydroxyl groups in zirconium phenylphosphonate. The presence of tetra-coordinated phosphorous ions and hexa-coordinated zirconium ions were realized by the 31P solid MAS NMR and UV-visible, respectively. Sulfonated derivative of zirconium phenylphosphonate, Zr(O3PC 6H4SO3H)19 (O3PC 6H5)0.1·3.7H2O were also prepared.
