Abstract
Some non-Kekule-type organic molecules exhibit a high-spin state based on an intramolecular spin-exchange interaction. The high-spin molecules can be extended to the corresponding polyradicals with spinds that are ferromagnetically aligned. Poly(4-oxyphenyl-1,2-phenyleneethynylene)s, a high-spin polyradical, was synthesized, and the effect of the head-to-tail connectivity on the ferromagnetic interaction was studied.
