Abstract

The synthesis and kinetic cyclisations of a series of linear quinine oligomers are described. The distribution of cyclic oligomers is different from that observed in the corresponding thermodynamic cyclisation: cyclic tetramer is observed in the kinetic cyclisations, indicating that its absence under thermodynamic conditions is not due to any kinetic barrier to its formation.
