Abstract

By taking advantage of a novel purification route to anionic polymerization grade alkyl methacrylate monomers, clean block copolymers have been synthesized in high yields with very low compositional heterogeneity and narrow polydispersities. Both hydrocarbon-methacrylate and all-acrylic block copolymers have been synthesized. The study of the solid state properties of these glass-glass block systems indicate that the amount of phase mixing may be controlled by varying the block molecular weight and differential solubility of the constituent blocks.
